GSA 1122 Program Expansion for State and Local Governments

GSA has authorized states and units of local government to purchase certain products under selected GSA Schedules and Special Item Numbers (SINs) in support of their counter-drug missions. Section 885 of the Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009 amended 10 U.S.C. 381 to expand the procurement authority under the 1122 Program beyond counter-drug activities -- now include equipment for homeland security and emergency response activities.

GSA Expands Ordering to Cover Public Health Emergencies

GSA now allows State and Local Governments to use GSA Schedules for Public Health Emergencies (PHE) like the H1N1 flu pandemic. This is in addition to Recovery Act grants; cooperative purchasing authority for IT and security (Group 84) products and services; and disaster recovery programs.
